Thomas W. Jennings

A founding member of Jennings Sigmond P.C. in 1975, Mr. Jennings, after a short one year stint with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Attorney General, has restricted his practice to the representation of labor unions since 1972. During the intervening forty years he has advocated the rights of labor unions in every federal and state judicial, administration and arbitral forum in which those rights have been challenged.

During his career he has represented labor unions with only one member and others with tens of thousands. In similar fashion, he has pursued claims on behalf of his clients dealing with priceless collective bargaining rights and others involving tens of millions of dollars. Having personally represented unions in several thousand arbitrations, he is intimately familiar with the defense of contractual rights in both the public and private sector. He has appeared, and successfully argued cases, before every level of court in both the state and federal judicial systems as well as every labor-related administrative body (labor boards, state and federal departments of labor, EEOC, HRC).

Mr. Jennings particularly prides himself on his close relationship with his clients. As a consequence, he has provided counseling and advice in innumerable situations to unions confronting legal challenges. In that vein, he has negotiated collective bargaining agreements of every size and economic impact, ranging from a small employer to the City of Philadelphia and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Jennings’ skill, ability and dedication have been recognized by his peers. He has been chosen to appear in every edition of the prestigious Best Lawyers in America since it was first published in the early 1980s as well as in every edition of Super Lawyers of Philadelphia and for the entire State of Pennsylvania. He was also admitted to membership in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

A frequent speaker and author on matters dealing with labor relations, he has lectured such diverse groups as law students, college students, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, members of the American Arbitration Association, members of the National Academy of Arbitrators and even students at the University of Warsaw in Poland.
A former President of the Labor and Employment Relations Association in Philadelphia, Mr. Jennings is also a member of the Labor Law Section of both the Pennsylvania and American Bar Associations.
