Dominique B. E. Ward primarily counsels multiemployer benefit funds in ERISA, tax, and litigation matters.
She regularly represents multiemployer fund clients in delinquency disputes and collections litigation and provides counsel on potential tax consequences related to the investment of plan assets. Her practice also includes advising multiemployer plans on drafting and amending plan documents and tax qualification issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Dominique was a Deputy City Solicitor in the Major Tax Unit at the City of Philadelphia Law Department. In that role, she handled tax litigation regarding the Internal Revenue Code and Philadelphia Code and represented the City before the Court of Common Pleas and Tax Review Board. Dominique was as a panelist for the 2018 Philadelphia Bar Association Tax Section CLE on “Tax Controversy,” and has coordinated professional training programs ranging from Legal Ethics to “Audit Best Practices.”
She began her career at a boutique law firm handling civil rights litigation, including Fair Labor Standards Act violations and practice before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In law school, Dominique received the “2011 Pro Bono Service Award” for her commitment to serving others and her community. She also interned at Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in the Miami District Office and was a student advocate in the law school’s Investor Advocacy Clinic for income restricted individuals.
Dominique is an active member of the Philadelphia legal professional community. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia, Inc. as the Vice-President of Finance and is a member of Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors.
In her spare time, Dominique enjoys trying new cooking recipes, reading, traveling, movies, and all things Marvel comics.
